What is the Freestore Foodbank?

The Freestore Foodbank of Cincinnati, Ohio is the largest emergency food provider in the Tri-State area, serving a 20 county region in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. We purchase, solicit and collect donated food from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies and distribute it to more than 400 community partnership agencies (churches, food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, outreach centers, and after-school/summer programs) that provide free food to those in need. The Freestore Foodbank distributes more than 24 million meals annually to more than 281,000 low-income individuals.

The Freestore Foodbank’s mission is to provide food and services, create stability and further self-reliance for people in crisis. The organization’s vision is to be the leader of a community mobilized to end hunger and address its causes. Its values are Commitment, Compassion, Empowerment and Community.

Using food to start a conversation, the Freestore Foodbank connects with customers, connecting them to the many necessary resources to help them move forward:

  • Emergency Rent Assistance
  • Direct Rent/Utilities Program
  • Representative Payee Program
  • Transportation Assistance
  • Emergency Clothing
  • Holiday Food Distribution
  • Homeless Outreach

Additionally, the Freestore Foodbank has many programs to reach the children who are most vulnerable to hunger. The Power Pack program provides bags of nutritious food to students each Friday during the school year to ensure they have something to eat on the weekends. During the week, Kids Cafe provides hot meals to students after school before returning home.
